General Samuel Hopkins Chapter 101st Anniversary Tea
The Henderson County chapter of the national Daughters of the American REvolution honored some local people Saturday during its 101st Anniversary Tea. Jim Blue of Henderson, center, was given the DAR Medal of Honor, an award which the DAR's Gisele Hatfield said was one of the organization's "most prestigious." Gabriele Critser, at right, was awarded the DAR Americanism Medal, while Mary Ann McClure, at left, was presented the Community Service award. This was the first year the local DAR chapter had awarded the DAR Medal of Honor and the DAR Americanism Medal. The tea was held at ST. Paul's Episcopal Church. - February 14, 1997 - Gleaner photo by Mike Lawrence
