Walker Fleming married Mary Lee Patillo, November 29, 1905. She was born
in Christian County, Kentucky, February 27, 1883, the daughter of John
H. Pattillo (1839-1914) a Virginia native, and member of Company
"A" 56th
Virginia Infantry, C.S.A., who settled in " Little Flat Lick",
south Christian
County after the War between the States, and married December 23, 1875,
Lydia Jane Barbee ( October 14, 1852 - January 6, 1933), a native of
Virginia,
daughter of Edward and A. C. Barbee.
Walker and Mary Lee Pattillo Fleming had five children:
1. James Thomas "Tom" Fleming b: 12-9-1906
2. Katherine Fleming b: 1-12-1909
3. Mary Graham Fleming b: 12-1-1910
4. William Walker "Billy" Fleming, Jr. b: 8-29-1913 d: 7-7-1984
5. Mildred Jane Fleming b: 8-15-1917
In young manhood Walker Fleming was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church,
but later became a member of McKenzie Kirk Presbyterian Church with his
wife and children. Walker Fleming died July 3, 1946 and Mary Lee Patillo
Fleming died February 25, 1953. They are buried at their homep[lace, now
owned by their daughter, Mrs. Mildred Cayce, south Herndon.

BACKGROUND OF ELIZABETH LOUISE PATTILLO
John Henry Pattillo at the age of sixteen, a resident of the State of
Virginia, joined the Confederate Army. He fought the battles of Lookout
Mountain, Missionary Ridge, Fort Henry and Fort Donelson. He was at Fort
Donelson the day it was surrendered. Lydia Jane Pattilo, a native of
Virginia, was educated in private schools
in Virginia. She graduated from Danville College, Danville, Virginia.
She often told her grandchildren of
riding the train between Lynchburg and Danville on which, "The Wreck of
the Old 97" occurred.
After moving to
Bennetstown, Kentucky to be near his Colonel (Col. John
Dickinson) J.H. Pattilo met Lydia Jane Barbee, who lived at Shady Grove,
Kentucky. They were married December
23, 1875 and made their home at Bennettstown.
