George Thomas Higginson is the 4th great-grandfather of Carole Palmer
He was born 22 May 1762 Dublin, Ireland; christened 1762 Christ Church Lisburn, Antrim Ireland. He departed Ireland from Cork, May 25, 1784 on the ship "Washington", landing in Alexandria, Virginia.
Sometime before 1789 George Thomas Higginson married Mary Stockwell.
A George Higginson is listed on the Bourbon County KY tax list in: 1792, 1793, 1795, 1796 and 1797.
A Warren County KY deed of 20 Apr 1800 lists George Higgerson of Mare Branch, Warren County as one of the heirs of Jean Higgerson who married with Edward Poole; it says Jean is now deceased and late of the city of Annapolis MD. George Higgerson is deeding to James Higgerson of Union Town, Fayette Co PA, all title in land situated in Union County KY which deed bears date of 22 Jun 1795 conveyed by Henry Bughon and Mary his wife, to said Jane Higgerson and recorded in Fayette Co Book B page 322 and 323. 5 shillings.
George Higgeson is listed as an appraiser for the estate inventory of James Lowery, 16 June 1801 in Warren Co KY, Bk A, along with Thomas Fletcher, Thomas Ford, and Samuel Cox.
Warren County KY Deed Book A, p 236: George Higginson appoints brother James Higginson late of Warren Co KY "my attorney to receive any legacy that may be willed to me in the kingdom of Ireland or elsewhere."
George Higginson died 26 Oct 1820 Henderson Co KY; he is buried at Higginson Cemetery in Poole, KY. His will is dated 24 Oct 1820 and is filed in Henderson Co Will Book A, page 334-335.
George T. Higginson and Mary Stockwell, 12 Apr 1869 MD-10 Jun 1853, had the following children:
1) James M. Higginson, b 1789 PA, d 1849; marr Judiah Birchfield, b 1798 NC, 6 Jul 1811 Warren Co KY; they were the parents of eight children.
2) Polly Higginson, b 1791 Uniontown PA, d 1814; buried Henderson Co KY.
3) George Coran Higginson, b 1792 Bourbon Co KY, d 1860 Union Co KY; married Martha Marks, b 1798 Loudon Co VA; d after 1830. They had two children.
4) John Kidd Higginson, b 5 Jan 1794 Bourbon Co KY; died in infancy.
5) Whiteside Higginson, b 1795 Bourbon Co KY, d 1853. He married 1) Sarah Harriet Threlkeld, b 1800 Mason Co KY, d abt 1826 Union Co KY; they had three children. 2) Permelia Dorris, who died before 1840, 17 Jan 1827 Henderson Co KY; they had five children. 3) Elizabeth Ramsey, b 1811 KY, d 1882, 10 Mar 1840 Union Co KY; they were the parents of four children.
6) Rebekah Higginson, b 1798 Warren Co KYm d 1748l; she married Isaiah Grantham, b 1796 NC; they went to Montgomery Co IL by 1830. Rebekah's name is given as "Greathouse" in her father's will of 1820.
7) Hinchcliffe Higginson, b 1799 Warren Co KY. He married Nancy L. Denton, b 1799 NC, d 1855; they were the parents of thirteen children.
8) Hull Higginson, b 1801 Warren Co KY, d 1869; he married Sibbie Jane Whitledge, b 1809 KY, d 1870 Union Co KY, 31 Jan 1829 Henderson Co KY. They became the parents of nine children.
9) Elizabeth Higginson, b 1802 Warren Co KY, d 1855 Henderson Co KY; she married Thomas W. Denton and they were the parents of four children.
10) Sarah Higginson, b 1804 Warren Co KY; she may have married a Whitledge.
11) Franklin Higginson, b 1805 Warren Co KY, d 1860; he married Mary Jane McMurray, b 1821 Union Co KY, d 1887 Union Co KY, 2 Jul 1842 Union Co KY; they were the parents of eight children.
12) Jefferson Higginson, b 1807 Warren Co KY, d 1870 White Co KY; he married Catherine Crews, b 1818 Henderson Co KY, d 1877 IL, 2 Mar 1833 Henderson Co KY; they were the parents of eleven children.
13) Madison Higginson, b 1809 Warren Co KY, d 1875, marr Mary Ann "Polly" Denton, b 1809 KY, d 1893, 31 May 1832 Henderson Co KY; they had one son.
14) Washington Higginson, b 1812 Warren Co KY, d 1878; he married Eliza Crews, b 1813 KY, d 1909, 19 Jun 1833 Henderson Co KY; they were the parents of ten children.
