John Hart

John Hart p331

John B. Hart was son of Benjamin and Nancy Morgan Hart (who is a Revolutionary War heroine). He was born ~1763 in NC and died after 1821 in Henderson Co., KY. He married Patience Lane in 1785 in Johnson Co., NC. She was born 28 Mar 1765 in Wake Co., NC, daughter of Jesse and Winifred Aycock Lane, and died ~1832 in Henderson Co., KY. John and Patience had at least 11 children; Nathaniel, Thomas, John Jackson, Nancy/Ann, Kezia, Rebecca, Susannah/Susan, Rhoda, Mary, Benjamin Franklin, and Amelia. This 1810 census shows 13 children--2 boys are missing from my list. I am descended from John and Patience's daughter, Nancy/Ann Morgan Hart. Nancy married John Stanley first and had 2 sons, John H. and Nathaniel G. Stanley. John Stanley died when both sons were toddlers. Nancy married Arthur Jordan on 12 April 1813 and they had 9 children. Arthur was born 1780 in Granville Co., NC, son of Turner and Nancy Smith Jordan.

Benjamin and Nancy had at least eight children. It is believed that Benjamin and Nancy, with possibly three of their sons, Morgan, John, and Thomas, participated in the Battle of Kettle Creek in GA, February 14, 1779. After the war they moved to Brunswick, Glynn Co., GA. After Benjamin's death around the turn of the century, Nancy moved to Clarke Co., GA, where her son John lived, and about 1802/03 they moved to Henderson Co., KY, where Nancy remained until her death, reportedly at the age of 93. They are buried in Book Cemetery in Henderson Co., KY.
